The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance ranks in the top 1% of all chambers of commerce in America earning a 5-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Who We Are: The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance (The Alliance) combines the resources of a traditional chamber of commerce with regional economic development. The result? One organization representing the entire Region with benefits that help existing businesses grow, while aggressively marketing our community to the world as a great place to live, work, or expand your business. The dollars provided by our members and investors strengthen our commitment to advancing the regional business community and the area’s quality of life. From representation at all levels of government to informative small business-targeted programs to great marketing opportunities in various publications to educational and professional-development opportunities, and even networking events, the Alliance seeks to provide members with the information they need to make their businesses succeed.
Why the Alliance? Because excellence abounds. While we’ve been accredited with the US Chamber since 1973, in 2017 we earned our third-consecutive, 5-Star accreditation, hitting the trifecta of excellence and again earning the highest rating in America. According to US Chamber, this validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community.
Additionally, the Alliance’s CEO Megan A. Lucas was selected as one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers for 2017. The economic development professionals selected for this list were nominated by their colleagues in both the economic development industry and the site consultant community for excellent practices, innovation, and success in building the communities they serve.
Our Work: The Alliance’s economic development core message is to promote regional cooperation and enhanced economic development by leveraging our public-private partnership. The Alliance’s core message is to promote the Region and its assets globally through national and international marketing missions attracting new industry. Major work in the past 12 months has including the development of a comprehensive economic development strategy, a targeted industry analysis, and providing key data for Virginia’s first regional connectivity study which studied the key linkages between transportation, connectivity, and economic development. In 2016, the organization spearheaded an effort to obtain $85 million from the Virginia Smart Scale funding process, formerly known as HB2, to upgrade the Region’s roadways.
Member Benefits: The Alliance’s membership focus involves connecting area businesses to the resources needed to grow and expand. We provide and facilitate networking and business development opportunities that allow professionals to engage in various programs and services that impact business. We also engage with local, regional, state, and national organizations where the Region’s voice is collectively amplified. More than 200 business sectors are represented through the Alliance’s advocacy work.
Workforce: In addition, the Alliance’s talent development strategy ensures we are armed with a strong talent pipeline to meet the demands of business in our Region. Our role is to connect today’s workplace with tomorrow’s workforce by providing education and training workshops, while helping with talent recruitment and development through internships, apprenticeships, Young Professionals of Central Virginia, Leadership Lynchburg, and more.
Your Business Headquarters: The Alliance’s new headquarters, slated to be completed by the third quarter of 2017, will be located in the urban hub of the Region, downtown Lynchburg. Included in the design are functional and attractive offices, rooms for large and small meetings of our members, and renovations of the outdoor patio and entrances, as well as exterior signage to the building with visibility from points in the city. “The Region’s premier business organization is going to be in a facility and location that represents our thriving, innovative, and collaborative business community,” Lucas said, “In this Region, success is easily achievable and the Alliance headquarters provides the atmosphere of growth and opportunity.”
